Our five prevention pillars
At Healings Community Center, we believe that the greatest intervention is prevention. We are dedicated to nurturing the whole child through comprehensive programs designed to address root causes and foster resilience. Discover how our five prevention pillars are building a brighter future for Cleveland's youth.

Addressing the root causes
What makes Healings Community Center unique is our commitment to addressing the root causes, not just the symptoms. Addiction, violence, mental health struggles, tobacco and vaping use, and obesity do not appear out of nowhere. They grow in the soil of trauma, rejection, poverty, broken homes, and hopelessness. Our faith-first approach, rooted in the Word of God, provides a foundation for children to understand their identity, worth, and purpose. This empowers them to overcome challenges and build a life of wholeness.

Fighting key dangers in Cleveland
Cleveland is the second poorest big city in America, and we are directly fighting the specific dangers that threaten our youth. These include drug and alcohol addiction, youth violence, unaddressed mental health crises, tobacco and vaping addiction, and obesity driven by poverty and lack of resources. Behind these dangers lies a deeper struggle: children who do not know their own worth. Our prevention programs address every layer, because every child deserves a chance to grow up whole and understand that God made them on purpose with a plan for their life.

Transforming lives, one child at a time
We envision a teenager choosing a different path away from addiction, a young person finding their purpose instead of detention, and a child choosing peace over violence through conflict resolution skills. We see them embracing healthy choices, taking care of their bodies, and finding solace from anxiety and depression by trusting in God. Our work aims for every child to become a testimony, not a statistic, transforming their family, neighborhood, and ultimately, our city. This is the future we are building, one child at a time.
How we put prevention into action
Once restored, our 120-year-old historic landmark church at 334 E. 156th Street, Cleveland, OH 44110, will become Cleveland's dedicated faith-based youth prevention center and a safe haven open seven days a week. We will offer peer-led groups, mentorship, faith-based counseling, physical wellness programming, and life skills education. Our programs are led by individuals who have lived similar experiences, providing authentic guidance and fostering strong relationships. We are not just a program; we are a community that extends into schools, partnerships with churches, and support for families, ensuring prevention happens where it matters most: in relationships.
